UNCOVER WHAT THE WORLD IS ALREADY DISCOVERING
One of the reasons the Finger Lakes has been a hidden treasure for so long is the fact that the major highways of New York State surround the region and do not pass directly through it. Visitors to the region usually are running between the more famous tourist destinations of Niagara Falls and New York City and simply just pass by the area, not realizing that paradise was almost within their grasp.
FROM THE EAST
For those of you traveling across the top part of New York State the New York State Thruway will be your best route. This toll road runs the entire width of the state. Exits off of the Thruway for the finger Lakes Region are Exits 41-44 and are about 7 mile north of the region.
From the southern part of the state using Routes 17 and 86 the exits are at Bath, Corning and Horseheads.
FROM THE WEST
If you are coming in from the west use either the New York State Thruway or Route 86 and 17
FROM THE NORTH
Our Canadian neighbors can discover our area by entering the US at Niagara Falls by using Routes 190. 290 and 90 (NYS Thruway). those in the Montreal and Quebec areas can come down Route 87 to Albany and then come across the New York State Thruway.
FROM THE SOUTH
Major roads into the Finger Lakes Region from the south are Routes 15 and 81.
